Ashley and Kory

In Loving Memory of Kory

WILL YOU KNOW ME?

Will you know me
When I get to your home?
When I walk through the gates
Will you call me your own?
Will you say, My sister?
Or, Hi! What's your name?
Will I look different?
Will you look the same?

How will we act?
Will it be like before?
Will we laugh again
Til' our sides are sore?
Will the love be like it should
Between a sister and a brother?

Or will it be as if
We just met one another?
When I get there
You'll never be alone
Will you know me
When I get to your home?

WIND BENEATH MY WINGS

It must have been cold there in my shadow,
To never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
While you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
But I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth,
Of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings,
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
So high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

April 5, 2001

Dear Friends and Family,

George McDonald once said, "Sometimes a thunderbolt will shoot from a clear sky; and sometimes, into the midst of a peaceful family - without warning of gathered storm above or slightest tremble of earthquake beneath - will fall a terrible fact, and from that moment everything is changed. The air is thick with cloud, and cannot weep itself clear. There may come a gorgeous sunset, though."

While it has been two years now, I have yet to see my sunset. A few rainbows perhaps, but not a sunset in sight. I do believe that one will come. Even if I'm not sure when; it will come. This is what I cling to. This is the only thing that keeps us going on. It is the sunset that helps us to press toward our rewards in heaven. It is my prayer that through time and memories, we might find our sunset. But, perhaps the true sunset will not come until we hear his voice again.

I have been very blessed by God to have all of you. You have continued to be a friend to Kory, and friends to me. Thank you. I believe with all my heart that Kory would be proud of you, as I am. You guys know exactly who you are, there is no need to mention names. You will always be remembered by me, and you will receive rewards beyond measure one day. I still miss Kory very much, and I will continue to until the day we meet again.

You have eased the bumps in my road of life, time and time again. When thinking of April 5, 1999. I will always praise God for all of you. I trust that everything happens for a reason, even if we are not wise enough to see it.

I love you all,
Ashley Black

Philippians 1:3

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.
